The very classy, DSE Henton For Glory (For Edition / Escudo I / Distelfink / Crown Lease XX) recently competed in the prestigious Young Event Horse Class held in conjunction with the Taupo Three Day Horse Trials. During the four phase class - dressage, jumping both show jumps and cross country, gallop and confirmation - he was neck in neck with the eventual overall winner of the class. Finishing a very credible second, by one point, for his delighted syndicate of owners including the rider Donna Edwards Smith, Elise Edwards Smith, Gaye and Sarah Cruickshank and Henton Lodge Hanoverians. We confidently look forward to the upcoming spring eventing season with this exciting young horse.
Henton Ambassador (Anamour / Distelfink / Crown Lease XX) most capably ridden by the master Matthew Grayling, finished second in the CCI2*-L class at the recent Taupo Three Day Horse Trials. After a creditable dressage, Ben jumped a foot perfect cross country clear and under time. He was in third position going into day three, the show jumping. This jumping effort allowed him to finish the overall three days in second place. Henton Lodge Hanoverians, who have retained ownership, are very excited for the future of this tall horse who has been taken along slowly, but is now ready to step up in the spring.
The lovely black gelding Henton Armani (Harry to his friends) by Anamour from Delphi (by Distelfink) has been purchased by Jenny Magee, now from the Waikato. Jenny will be campaigning him at dressage. We understand Harry has settled in well and Henton Lodge wishes Jenny all the very best with this lovely elegant horse.
The five year old DSE Henton For Glory (For Edition / Escudo I / Distelfink / Crown Lease XX), most capably ridden by Donna Edwards-Smith, for a syndicate, narrowly missed out on the prestigious Five Year Old Show Jumping Title at the New Zealand Horse of the Year Show. Donna entered the young gelding, who has been lightly evented during the season, more for the experience at a very busy show, rather than with any thoughts of placing. However when he jumped the first round clear and in fine style, he was asked to step up in the second round. To the delight of the syndicate he finished second by a mere 1.4 seconds. Henton Lodge have remained as part of the syndicate for this exciting young horse and we wish Donna, Elise, Gaye and Sarah all the very best.
Henton Faberge (Dot to her friends) extremely capably ridden by Emelia Forsyth has won the prestigious Nelson Family 1.35m show jumping class at the New Zealand Horse of the Year Show. Emelia and Dot were last to go in the jump off, having been the fastest clear qualifier, their turn of speed, the mare's huge ground covering stride and both Emelia and Dot's determination, saw them achieve the fastest clear second round, against the clock, to see them clinch the Title class. Henton Lodge retains ownership of the mare, having previously been evented by daughter Olivia, prior to her end of last years overseas exchange, which gave the opportunity for Dot to be leased to the Forsyth family.
Henton Faberbe (For Edition / Genius) and her young rider, Emelia Forsyth, have had an outstanding last show of the season. Fresh from winning the 1.35m title class at the Horse of the Year, this combination who have only been together since the beginning of the season, started on Saturday in the Young Rider class - winning that ! On Sunday Emeila and Dot started in their first ever Grand Prix, also taking out the first place in that class. That makes three starts and three wins for the "girls". Dot will now have a well earned break and we will be very excited to see the combination back in the spring. Congratulations to Emelia for an outstanding season with an outstanding mare.
Henton Armada and Christen Lane recently won the CNC* class at the Northland Horse Trial. Henton Armada (Anamour/The Showstoppa xx) did a lovely dressage to be in third place, after a clear show jumping they were elevated to second place overnight. Sunday saw a faultless cross country round leaving the girls to take the overall honours. Henton Lodge Hanoverians congratulates Christen and her husband Tom, the owner of the six year old mare, for this outstanding win against strong competition in a large class. We wish them luck for the balance of the season.
Henton Armani - Anamour/Distelfink - scored an impressive win over the weekend with Matthew Grayling. Henton Armani and his full brother Henton Ambassador both competed with Matthew at the Flaxmere course in the Hawkes Bay. Henton Ambassador - "Ben" - won the dressage phase and show jumped clear to take the overnight lead. Henton Armani "Harry" was third after the dressage, show jumped clear to be second over night. Ben, being the less experienced of the two, incurred some time faults to finish in 5th place. Harry incurred no time penalties and finished the winner of the class. Matthew Grayling was most impressed with the two full brothers to Henton Attorney General and is looking forward to their next starts. Henton Lodge Hanoverians retains ownership of both geldings and is looking forward very much to the future with these two, very well bred, young horses.
Christen Lane, with her two rides Henton Armada (Anamour/Showstoppa XX) and Henton First Lady (For Edition / Henton Ambiance by Anamour) were first and second at the recent Matamata horse trial in the CNC * event. This was an outstanding result for these two young mares, both relatively new at this level. Both these horses have an exciting future and Henton Lodge wishes Christen all the very best. Henton Ambassador (Anamour/Distelfink) had success at his second only horse trial, taking second place in the 105 class. "Ben" to his friends, at only six, has been very lightly campaigned by Matthew Grayling, while allowing the large framed horse to mature, but is now ready to rise through the grades. Matthew is delighted with the young, inexperienced full brother to Henton Attorney General. Henton Ambassador is owned by Henton Lodge Hanoverians and we are very excited to follow, what we believe will be, an exceptional career.
Henton Cartier (Contendro I / Henton Ambiance by Anamour) had a very exciting start to the four year old mare's career, with a fourth place at her very first horse trial. With a lovely dressage and clear both cross country and show jumping this very well bred young lady surely turned heads - Contendro I is the current leading sire of event horses in Europe - Anamour is well know as a leading sire of dressage horses in New Zealand, so the perfect breeding for a top event horse. She was also very well behaved at her first show, at times in busy situations. We look forward to this lovely horse finding a new approved competitive home. Her career has only just started and she showed exceptional maturity and talent inherent to her world class breeding.
Henton Armani (Anamour / Distelfink) who is a much younger full brother to Henton Attorney General, recently competed at his first full three day event. Henton Armani (Harry to his friends) won the dressage phase of the event, went on to produce an outstanding, effortless cross country round in style and under time to retain the lead after two days. With the competition tight at the end of three days, an unfortunate one rail found him and his outstanding rider, Sophie Abbott, still with a podium finish. Henton Lodge owns the black six year old gelding and we are very much looking forward to his autumn season.
Henton First Counsel (For Edition (frozen semen) / Dynamit / Distelfink / Crown Lease XX)and his brand new part owner, Olivia Montgomery, have been successful at their first horse trial at the lovely Hunua venue. Richie, as known to his friends, did an outstanding dressage test to be placed second, their show jumping was clear to see them hold second place overnight - behind one of New Zealand's professional riders, no mean feat considering Olivia is only 15 and Richie is quite young. Cross country day saw Richie and Olivia go fast and clear to take the first place. Henton Lodge wishes Olivia and Richie more successes going forward.
Henton Flamboyant, also known as "Bling" (For Edition / Delft by Dynamit / Distelfink) has been purchased by the Stirling family. Daughter Savannah, who is one of New Zealand's up and coming young event riders, will have the pleasure of competing the young mare. Henton Lodge will enjoy watching this partnership and we wish them all the very best.
Henton Lodge Hanoverians are delighted to advise that Sophie Abbott is the new owner of Henton First Class - a stunning black three, rising four year old gelding by For Edition from the lovely Anamour mare Henton Anastasia. Henton Lodge wishes Sophie and her family all the very best in the future with this outstanding young horse and we will watch the combination with interest going forward in their eventing career.
Henton Armani, being capably ridden by Matthew Grayling, won the Jumping section of the Young Event Horse Class held in conjunction with the Taupo Three Day Horse Trial. He also placed very well in both the dressage and conformation sections of the class giving him a very creditable finish. The five year old black gelding is by Anamour from Delphi (by Distelfink) making him a full brother to Henton Attorney General. Henton Lodge Hanoverians, who have retained ownership of this stunning young horse, are excited about his future.
Henton Armani notches his first ribbon at the recent horse trial at the Hawkes Bay, at only his third start. The five year old black gelding, is by Anamour from the Distelfink mare, Delphi, which makes him a full brother to the outstanding Henton Attorney General. Henton Armani is most capably ridden by the master Matthew Grayling. Ownership of Henton Armani is retained by Henton Lodge Hanoverians. We look forward to his next start this season.
The New Zealand Hanoverian Society and Henton Lodge Hanoverians have recently hosted a visit to New Zealand by the esteemed representative of the German Hanoverian Society, Dr Ludwig Christmann. Dr Christmann inspected the 2016 foals at Henton Lodge and awarded the most prestigious top prize, of Premium Foal to TWO of the Henton Lodge draft. The bay colt foal by Valentino from Grandessa (Gymnastic Star/Graf Landau) and the bay filly by Viscount from Henton Exclusive (Escudo I/Distelfink/xx). Henton Exclusive with her 2016 foal at foot by Viscount and her 2014 black filly also by Viscount were presented to Dr Christmann for the "jumping mare family" this family was also awarded Premium Status. Just another testament to the superior eventing breeding programme being employed by Henton Lodge Hanoverians. Henton Lodge would like to thank Dr Christmann, wishing him a safe trip home and look forward to hosting him in New Zealand at another time. Photograph Grandessa and her premium colt foal by Valentino.
Henton Armada and her rider Christen Lane won at the Puhinui One Day Horse Trial last week. The five year old mare by Anamour from The Showstoppaxx were third after dressage - clear show jumping, in stunning style and a fast clear cross country saw the combination win the DEVI Heating Systems CNC105 class. This young, athletic mare has impressed all the way through her career while climbing the grades and will continue to do so in the future. Henton Lodge wish Tom and Christen Lane from Bellwood Equestrian all the very best and we look forward to watching Henton Armada successfully continue to climb the grades.
Balmoral Henton, the next Henton Lodge sensation, finished second at the recent Puhinui International Horse Trials in the CCI** class. The Contendro I gelding from Distancia (by Distelfink) was a close 5th, in a large field, after dressage, his cross country was fast and clear but with the scope rarely seen on the cross country track. He equally stunned with his style over the show jumps leaving them in place on the third day for rider Dannie Lodder, to finish a close second in this prestigious class. Balmoral Henton is owned by Sim Kann from Balmoral Eventers and we wish them all the very best for the future. Photo Take the Moment.
